Change Chat Background
- Open
to launch WhatsApp. - Tap “Settings“.
3. Select “Chats“.
4. Tap “Chat Wallpaper”.
Chat Wallpaper
You will be given three options to change your wallpaper: “Wallpaper Library”, “Solid Colors” and “Photos”.
Wallpaper Library
Wallpaper Library is an in-app wallpaper setting provided by WhatsApp. You can choose from the wallpapers provided by WhatsApp in the “Wallpaper Library”.
- Select “Wallpaper Library”.
- Scroll up and down to view the given images.
2. Tap on the image you want to set as chat background.
- Your selected image will be previewed. You may also swipe left or right to preview other images.
3. Tap “Set“.
4. You’ve successfully changed your wallpaper! This is how it would look like.
Solid Colors
Unlike the images in the Wallpaper Library, Solid Colors are simple. The colors give a different ambiance.
- Select “Solid Colors”.
- Scroll up and down to view the colors.
2. Tap the color you want to set as your chat background.
- Your selected color will be previewed. You may also swipe left or right to preview other images.
3. Tap “Set”.
4. You’ve added a cool color as your background. This is how it would look like.
Photos
This option lets you change your wallpaper with the photos from your gallery.
- Tap “Photos“.

3. Select the photo you want as your background
- Your image will be previewed. Pinch to zoom the image, or drag to adjust.
4. Tap “Set“.
5. You’ve added the image you want as your background. This is how it will look.
- Once you have selected the color, image, or wallpaper, this will be applied to all chat screens.
